AutoStable

What it is

AutoStable converts the volatile tokens your wallet receives (ICP, ckBTC, ckETH) into a stablecoin as each payment or donation settles. Stablecoins (ckUSDC, ckUSDT) are always received as they are.

The settings belong to the wallet: they apply to every payment and donation into it, from any of your sites, from the very first one. The WooCommerce and Donate plugins link here from their Settlement card.

Open AutoStable in Pybara Wallet

  1. Open Manage → AutoStable in Pybara Wallet.
  2. For each volatile token, choose Hold to receive it as it is, or AutoStable to convert it when it arrives.
  3. If at least one token is on AutoStable, set the options below.
  4. Click Save.
Option Choices What it does
Skip if cost exceeds 2%, 3%, 4%, 5% The most a conversion may cost. Above it, the swap is skipped and you receive the token as it is. See Capping the cost.
Receive as Best quote, ckUSDC, ckUSDT The stablecoin you receive. Best quote takes whichever is cheaper to reach at that moment, which gives a conversion the best chance of landing under your cap.
Email me if skipped An email address, or off Notifies you when a swap is skipped, with the token, the amount and the reason.

Defaults are in bold.

AutoStable charges 1% of the converted amount, on top of the swap cost charged by the DEX. It is separate from the commission taken when the payment settles, and a skipped swap costs nothing.

For example, a $100 payment in ICP, at a 1% commission, with AutoStable capped at 3%:

Amount
Payment The buyer pays, in ICP $100.00
Commission (1%), taken when the payment settles −$1.00
Arrives in your wallet, in ICP $99.00
AutoStable Swap cost, charged by the DEX (say 0.5%) −$0.50
AutoStable fee (1%) −$0.99
You receive, in ckUSDC or ckUSDT ≈ $97.51

The cap covers the conversion only: here 1.5% of the $99 converted, under the 3% cap, so the swap goes ahead. You are charged the cost actually incurred, never the cap you set.

The cost is checked twice: when the conversion is prepared, and again just before the swap. A DEX trades against a live pool, so another trade landing in the same pool can move the price in between. Each check therefore keeps a margin below your cap: the DEX slippage tolerance, currently 0.3%, and at the second check also the stablecoin’s transfer fees, which weigh more on small amounts.

The result is a hard guarantee: with a 3% cap, a conversion you receive never costs more than 3%, whatever the market does.

Each payment is evaluated on its own, including every renewal of a recurring donation: depending on the market at the time, some renewals may convert while others are skipped.

Every conversion is itemised against its payment in Pybara Wallet: the token converted, the token received, the swap cost, and the AutoStable fee.
